Robot Name Sign

My kids were telling me I only make stuff for other people and homes and not ours.  So I have been making stuff for our house and my kids ;).  This one was for my son.  I used the Printing Press font and robot scrapbook paper.

Quick and Easy notebook set

For this I took a composition book and scrapbook paper.  I cut the C out with the cartridge that came on my Expression 2.  I filled the pencil case with crayons.

Easy and a personal gift for my cousin's son.

One of my favorite things about creating is giving.  He was so excited when he got this!  It really made my day.  It is funny how someone's reaction to a gift inspires you to make more but how a lack of reaction also makes me want to do better.

Hello again!

My husband says I am a blog addict.  What does he know?!  Seriously, is compulsively reading blogs and working on projects to post an addiction?!  MEN!  The great news is today while playing with sanding some new cardstock I was able to watch him fold laundry ;)

Some friends and I started a "Cricut Club."  Now, if you read through my other posts you realize, and can see that I fully accept and admit, that I am a geek.  So, this club suits me just perfect ;)  One of the craft stores has generously allowed us to use their classroom to meet in.  Which in itself is terribly dangerous to the wallet.  ANYWAY, today our project was vinyl on glass.  You will also learn quickly that I do love vinyl.

I made this sign for my son's wall.  The frame was on clearance for $1.98!  The paper is from the "All About Boys" scrap pad.  I think that was DCWV.  The "Rick" is cut out using my Cuttin' Up cartridge.

Pinewood Derby and Vinyl

My son's Pinewood Derby was this morning. He was SO EXCITED to decorate his car.  He is also a lover of my Cricut for sure.  So together we cut vinyl for his car with my brand new assorted vinyl colors.  How much fun is that?!  It was fun to do it with him and watch him  pick out his images.  I didn't think of this vinyl idea on my own.  Most of my ideas aren't my own :)  Thanks to my friend Carol she shared the vinyl idea!

We used Indie Art and Graphically Speaking for the flames.  The Graphically Speaking was on the back and doesn't show in any of the pics.  I will have to take one later and post it.  I THINK we used Learning Curve for the numbers.

We struggled with getting the dang vinyl to stay on the wood.  It was a nightmare as it kept lifting.  We sprayed some shellac over it to attempt to hold it down.  Yeah, we get an A for effort but not so much for product ;)

At the end of the day my son was excited to take home a trophy for "Best Design" in his den!!!  YAY!  I am a proud mother.  We celebrated with lunch after.  My son took his car, ribbon, and trophy into the restaurant and laid them in the middle of the table for everyone to see.  All the employees (owner, cook, waitresses) came out and asked him about his car and gave him a free ice cream.  This was a HUGE day for him, unfortunately, my son struggles with many things so when he has an accomplishment we CELEBRATE!  It made us so happy to see him feel successful today.  I just wish I could bottle that up for him for a day when he isn't feeling so great about himself.  If you have seen another post about my kids you will see that I won't post pics of my kids faces online, but I have this some of him holding the trophy for you to see!

Personalized Body Wash

One of my dear friends has a special little girl.  I promised that little girl a prize if she lost her tooth.  She was also giving her mom a hard time, like all girls do, the other night over a bath.  So I thought maybe her own special soap would make that smoother for mom... who knows, if she is as independent as my child nothing helps!!!

I started with a regular body wash I got at the drugstore.  I did use Goo Gone to remove the label residue.  It was quite yucky!!!

 Then I cut out the name and Hello Kitty on Dollar Tree contact paper.  I did use transfer paper this time to get the lettering on the bottle.  I think transfer paper is worth every penny!!!!!  I am a believer.

For this I used the Learning Curve and Hello Kitty Greetings Cricut cartridges.  What I liked best is this was a super easy and fast project!

My daughter's project- Math Night Bookmarks

Good Morning!

I haven't posted in a few days but wanted to show you a project my 7 year old took on.  She loves the Cricut as much as, if not more than I do!  Math Night is coming up at school and they need bookmarks to see in the "store." We have always tried to express to our children the value of things you make with your own hands.  When we make things with our own hands we talk about, think about, and pray for those who receive what we have made.  As a mom, I love doing this with my kids.  It is entertaining and enjoyable to hear the things my kids share with me during those moments.  During the making of these bookmarks I enjoyed time hearing my daughter talk about how she prays for people and why she prays for them.  I walked away from this project thinking "wow, I have a cool and thoughtful kid."  What more can a mom ask for?!

Posting pics of my daughter on my blog still makes me weary. I like to live in the false sense of security that if I post only on Facebook her face is safe... I know I know.  So here you see only her little hands.
