Duct Tape Kit

Is Duct Tape not the craziest of all of the new fads?  I mean seriously, what can't you do with it.  Hubby has always sworn by it but not it is all my kids want to.  I got this plastic case for $5 bucks on sale and found that Duct Tape fits perfectly in it!  So I filled it with 9 Duct Tapes which fit perfect in the case!  Then we put in a craft book for making things with it.  Then I used my Cuttin Up font cartridge and some vinyl and personalized it for my daughter.  Needless to say, she loved it!!!

Now we have Duct Tape everywhere and for everything.  You name it.

"Love" card

For some reason I just can't get the coloring right on this photo.

I made the roses with blue and then inked them slightly with brown.  The brown paper is embossed Coredinations witha  blue core.  Then I used ribbons and a Love sticker that I had kicking around.  I have been cleaning/organizing my craft room.... wow I have a ton of stuff that needs using!!!!

Locker Signs

I love crafting.  I love crafting with my kids more.  My daughter made locker signs for herself and a friend.  She loved doing it and I had a lot of fun watching her do it!  She is very happy to have her very own Cricut now and her own table in the craft room!

Burlap family sign and tuturial

I love searching around online for fun things to create and then making them my own.  I was inspired by some signs I saw on Etsy.  Etsy and craft fairs usually get a penny out of me but I find some great ideas there.

I printed this on my computer.  I was sure there was no way in heck that would work but decided to give it a whirl anyway.  Wouldn't you know it actually does work!  Here is what I did-
1. Ironed the burlap on a hot steam setting.  Honestly I am not sure if that is what you should do but hey it works for me and I didn't set the house on fire.

2.  Freezer paper is magic!  How cool is that.  It cost me $3.79 for a slice of magic.  What more can a girl ask for?  So I turned my iron down to a dry setting and out the shiny side down on the burlap and ironed briefly.
Now here is the magic.... The burlap sticks to the freezer paper!
Some of you are reading this and laughing at me wondering. Who didn't already know that but I didn't and I was so stinking excited when something I read actually worked!

3.  Now you cut it down to 8.5 by 11.  I used my rotary cutter and trimmed it up.

4.  Now he is where I got a wee bit nervous... I stuck this baby in the printer to print the file I made earlier.  (I will post the file on the blog later in case someone wants it.)

5. Sit next to your computer with nervous anticipation as the printer makes weird sounds due to the freezer paper.

HOLY COW IT WORKED!

6. Debate for a ridiculous amount of time if you want the glass in the frame.

7. Over analyze your work and decide it needs more. So watch count, ess videos and tutorials on how to make burlap flowers, I comprehended none of them but instead decided to just fake it.

Dog Lover Subway Art

This was a special order for a customer.  I painted the canvas brown and then used a tan paint for the lettering.  It took a couple shots of doing it because it kept smudging around the edges.  I need to figure that process out a bit more.

Valentine's Tim Holtz Style

This card was super easy and fun to do.

I used CoreDinations card stock, my favorite.  It had a red core.  I embossed with a Tim Holtz folder and then lightly sanded it.  The hearts were embossed with a folder from the same set.  I lightly inked the clothspins with rose distress ink.  Fun and easy :)

Burlap Love Banner

Pictures removed because this project is out for publishing.

I got a new sewing machine for Christmas.  My old one hasn't been useable for years.  I used to find time for quilting!  How the heck did I do that?!  So a customer asked me to make her a burlap love banner for her photo sessions.

Burlap... what an interesting medium that is NOTE heavy sarcasm.  It moves, it moves, it moves.  Oh and it isn't straight.  But boy it is fun and cute!

Fabric cutting on the Cricut.... well... I have a lot to learn.  It only took two tries to get what you see here but I do want to play with it more to see how I can do it better.  I found some great online tutorials that I didn't follow... yeah I will next time! ;)

Here Comes Valentine's Day

Aside from family time, two of my favorite things are blogging and crafting.  Some of my other favorite things are researching anything, lesson planning, rearranging furniture and organizing (however, maintaining that organization is NOT something I enjoy), reading and board games (although video games are a heck of a lot of fun too!).

My blog is neglected but not due to a lack of crafting.  I had a really busy fall with custom orders and they are still coming in, now I am seeing a rise in Valentine's Day orders.  How fun is that?!

My Gypsy isn't working.  I had a security breach error.  Then I tried following the directions to fix that and I am having even more issues.  So crafting with my Cricut is out of the question at the moment.  I could use this time to break out my sewing machine that has been staring at me since I got it for Christmas but I have opted to catch up on my blog a bit first ;).

This was a fun card to make.  I had to rearrange the buttons several times.  Then I finally got smart and cut out a heart and traced it on the paper and used that guideline. Not sure why the heck I didn't think of that first!!!  The I and the U are wooden letters.  My Secret Santa gave the letters to me last year at work and I have had fun finding ways to use them.  I inked them with Tim Holtz ink before putting them on the card.
