Toy Story name sign

This year I sold a bunch of signs personalized.  I really enjoyed doing them.  This I did with the Toy Story cartridge- talk about layers!!! HOLY COW!  I called my sister, who let me borrow the cartridge, at one point and told her NEVER to let me use it again!  Then it was finished and I loved it and it was so worth the layers!

I am linking this up to a linky party at Robin's Creative Cottage, come join us!

Butterfly Sign

One of my customers asked me to create this for her little girl.  I used Gypsy Wanderings for the butterfly and Lyrcial Letters for the name.  The cardstock is Coredinations Fancy Pants, I used that to give texture to the butterfly.

Christmas Coasters

I love making fun coasters, they are easy, fun, and inexpensive!

I go to Lowes and get inexpensive tiles, cut the paper, and Modge Podge it down.  Afterwards I spray it with Shellac a couple of times.

Do I need a Silhouette and a Cricut?

So..... I have a Cricut or two and love them.   I am considering a Silhouette- does anyone have both? Do I need both?

Christmas Cards

These Christmas cards sold fast at the craft fair!  The idea actually came from working with a friend on her Christmas cards.  I used Tim Holtz texture plates again, gotta love his stuff!

Gift tags

Here is a second project for today... some fun gift tags.

I used nice shiny glitter and embossing powder to heat emboss the tags.

Christmas Subway Art

For this I used a variety of fonts in my Gypsy.  I got a 12x12 canvas and just filled a 12x12 mat on my Gypsy.  Then it cut it out all together and made it super easy!

I painted the canvas red first, it took a few coats and then used white contact paper for the letters.  I modge podged over it after.

5x7 Christmas images

The coloring doesn't show up so well in these but I used fun shimmer paper.  I found a cartridge on my Gypsy, it must have been one of the free ones I got when I bought it that does those really detailed images.  I love the snowflake one.

Love frame

I searched my Gypsy for some words worth framing and found this!  I love being able to search all my cartridges!

What do you think?

From now until Christmas I have a project a day to show you!  I hope you come back to see more!

Show and Tell and Guest Designer

Are you ready for another great guest designer?!  Check out Holly!  She is so crafty!!!

Thank to Rebecca from Crafting Misfit for inviting me as a guest designer!

Since the holiday's are coming up, many of us like to give little gifts or baked goods to the people we love. I wanted to show you how to make a simple box that can be made in a flash and only uses one sheet of 12 x 12 paper!

I'm also offering some Blog Candy to a follower. Keep reading to see how you can win- Yeah!!
I decided to keep the box simple because the paper is so pretty and I just added a few flower rosettes cut from Flower Shoppe. I then wrap the box with a raffia bow and stamped a Thankful sentiment from Gettting Cricky's Fall-O-oween Stamps.
I found this box idea from the Scor Pal website, here's the original link Cookie Box to give credit to the desiger but here's my how to tutorial also.
1- 12 x12 sheet of cardstock.
Score at 3" and 9" then rotate paper and Score at 1", 3 1/2", 6 1/2" and 9".
Cut ,fold and tape . I leave the extra tabs long inside to give the box a little more support.
Voila....a simple box with endless gift possibilities! Here's a link to another box I've made before Sweet and Simple.
I'd like to offer some blog candy since it's my daughter's 5th birthday today! WooHoo! We're having her party at Chuck E. Cheese tonight...Yeah for my daughter....Bleeeeek for me!
Become a follower and leave me a comment on fun places you've had or been to for a birthday party. I'll post a winner on November 8th.

Now it is time to link up a project you want to share!

Felt coffee cup sleeves

Hey there!!!

I have my first craft fair coming up and have been scouring the net for fun ideas. I came across one that I loved and tried out. Check it out!

The flowers were cut on my Big Kick using Tim Holtz "Tattered Florals."

I want to make a bunch of these just for me :)  They are so happy!  I am still trying to figure out the best way to get those eyelets... I am not so good with my Cropodile just yet.

What do you think a reasonable price is for these sleeves?!  I hate pricing my goods!

Show and Tell and Guest Designer

We have another talented guest designer this week!

Check her out!!!

Hello Crafty Bloggers.  My name is Tammy and I’m so excited that Crafty Misfit is giving me this great opportunity to be her guest designer for the day.   My husband and I are recent empty nester and trying to figure out what to do with ourselves.    Actually, we seem to be driving up to see our son quite a bit.  I don’t think we were quite ready to let our only child grow up.

In between working and watching rugby, it’s time to start thinking about what to give out for Christmas.  We like to give out something homemade that doesn’t cost a lot of money.  We wanted to create something that would work for all ages and combine a pin board and a magnetic board.  Brad had the great idea that it should be dry erase also.  We spent a few days trying to figure out how to create the dry erase part.  There is paint available to create the surface, but the reviews weren’t very good so that was not the answer.  I kept thinking about the overhead projectors with the write on sheets that a geometry teacher used.

Here is what I started with.  A $0.99 cookie sheet from Wal-Mart, a small batch of cork board, A box of 3M Write-on transparency sheets from the office supply store, push pins, Dry-erase markers, magnets and pattern paper.

Brad drilled holes in the top lip so that we had a place to tie some ribbon on.  Then I cleaned the pan with soap and water to get rid of dirt and finger prints.   Brad then took some of the push pins and cut off the pin part so they would be flush.

I then took my main pattern paper and cut out the opening I wanted for the dry-erase section.  The glued the paper on top of the transparency.   Then glue the whole thing onto the pan.

We took the push pin tops and glued them with a flower base onto the magnets.  We tried both the really strong magnets and the regular ones.  We discovered that when you glue the flower and pin tops to the really strong magnet and place them on the fridge for later use, the paper separates and the tops fall off, but they work well when they are on-top of a couple of sheets of paper.

Here are some pictures of my final boards.

I had a great time working on these boards and have quite a few more to go before Santa Clause comes to town.

I want to thank Crafting Misfit again for this opportunity.   Now for a chance to win some blog candy.  I have two ink pads from A Muse studio to give away.   Leave a comment for Crafty Misfit and we will pick a winner by random.

Show and Tell and Guest Designer

Welcome Lilia!  She has done an amazing project as a part of my guest designer series!  Check out her project below!!!  PLEASE visit her and send her some blog love!
Make sure to link up a project of your choice at the end!!!
Here's my short biography.
I came to Canada 6 years ago from Ukraine with my husband and my 2-years old son, who is now 8. Thirteen months ago I had another son, and while on maternity leave we lived thru a fun and creative year. My passion is in translations and interpreting. I speak several languages such as English, Ukrainian, Polish, and Russian. I even haven't lost my French yet, which I knew perfectly before, but now I have fewer opportunities to practice it.
I always loved crafting.  Art was always a big part of my life.  During my childhood years I did a lot of different crafts, such as floral arrangements, paining, cross-stitching, card making and even some food carving. But as the time went by I departed from most of it retaining only cross-stitching as my main and favourite hobby.  I fell in love with card making long time ago, although became more serious about it only around Christmas time last year. I started with embroidery on paper, and then moved to simple cards with embellishments.  After trying stamp colouring I fell in love with it and now I have to use stamps on my every card, otherwise it looks unfinished.
Thanks to my husband’s support I have a few evenings every week that I can devote to my favourite crafts.  While he is watching the kids I enjoy the time of creativity. It is my stress relief from bad days and cranky moods.
And my project.
It is a wedding gift for my friends. I used it as a money gift box, although it was made as a memory box for the couple to use after their special day.
I worked on it one night, going to sleep at 5 am happy and satisfied that I finally had time to create something special and personal. Somehow this couple on the stamped picture reminds me my friends, newlyweds.
The box has an easel card attached on top, so it can be used as a decoration.
I haven't heard from them since their wedding and can't wait to find out whether they liked this gift or not.

CTO Birthday card must use metal

Have you run a soda can through your Sizzix?! Yep, you can do it. It MOSTLY works. However, after slicing my finger... I went with tinfoil ;)
Honestly, not loving this project.  It was one of those that just made me insane through the entire process ;)  I was so glad it was done I just left and and said good enough!  Although, I will never give it to anyone because I hate it :).

"Business" name?!

So I am starting to get involved with craft fairs, classes, and making custom gifts.  I have been going back and forth on business cards and a stamp to put on the back of my projects.  I am thinking now is the time.  I want everything to tie together.... so do I stay with "The Crafting Misfit" or come up with something different?  I am slightly worried that nobody would want to buy something or take a class from someone who considers them self a misfit!  Help me out here!  What are your thoughts? suggestions?

****************************************************************

Hello crafty friends! I'm Susan from www.CricutandGrasshooper.blogspot.com and I am a guest blogger for Crafting Misfit today. Back in August I had entered the Show and Tell challenge here and was thrilled to find I won and would be featured here! Being a somewhat new blogger this is very exciting for me and I am so excited to share my project with you today.

I have always been inspired by art and I do feel that the line between crafting and art is very fine. That being said I decided to do something a bit out of the box and I made a beautiful tray. I picked up this very bland looking cream colored tray at a Goodwill Store for .50 cents

After painting the tray a metallic purple, I then laid a piece of acetate on the bottom and placed Tarot cards on top. I then used a Martha Stewart punch and outlined the cards. The embellishment in the middle is a Tim Holtz and the gems are a combo of Martha Stewart and Jolee crystals. I then put a sheet of Plexiglas on top however because the guy at Ace hardware cut the glass too small I had to get creative here. I outlined the sides of the Plexiglas with another design using an Ekk punch. All in all, this is really a very easy project.

Now I know people have different opinions of Tarot cards but if you set all that a side and look at the artistic value only they are very interesting. The artwork is something that I find the most fasinating. That being said my curiousity got the better of me and after I finished this product I thought to myself, "I wonder what these cards mean".  I went through a whole deck and these were the eight cards I picked out because the artwork appealed to me the most. So I went online and looked them up and what learned floored me. The cards from the top left corner across mean... Knowledge, Patience, Moderation, Conquest, Mirage, Nurishment, Agreement and Control. Those eight cards describe me almost perfect. I didn't include the Joker card, then it would have been perfect.

One last thing here...how about a little candy?

I am giving away some blog candy over at my blog so stop on by. All you have to do is be a follower of both CraftingMisfit.com and CricutandGrasshopper.com and make sure to leave a comment on both. That's it!  Thanks again to CraftingMisfit for having me here today. I wish you all a great weekend, no matter what the cards have in store for you! ( lol...I had to add it, I couldn't resist.....)
