Sympathy Card

One of my very dear friends lost her father a couple of weeks ago.  They had a few rough days full of decisions and pain before saying their final good byes.  My heart was so broken for her and her family.  I am so very close to my own parents and to see a friend go through this was difficult to say the least.  I just didn't know what to do or say or how to support her.  I had no words for her or idea on how to help.  I have experienced a painful loss when my sister passed but still the words did not come.

I went to my craft room and just prayed for her and her family.  As I created cards for them I just committed myself in prayer to have them feel some healing.

Here is the card I created for her mother.  I will post the one for her on another day.

Challenge Myself layout #1

My son is 11.  Yes, 11.  When you see my layout and the rest of my post you are going to think one of two things I accidentally put in two 1s and that my son is 1  OR you are going to realize that I am a MASTER procrastinator.  Both are wrong.  I am a planning perfectionist.  Do you suffer from this?  I can't scrapbook anything because I have to wait for just the right moment, just the right paper, just the right embellishments.  It is absolutely insane.  ABSOLUTELY.  The reason it is so insane is because I accomplish n.o.t.h.i.n.g.  So, with this challenge I only have so many photos on hand so I am going to scrap them by golly.  If you didn't see the post about my challenge to myself you can see it here.

As part of my challenge I am forcing myself to do 13 layouts and use 13 things I have been hording storing in 26 weeks.  So here is my first one....

Yep, you are looking at my son's FIRST birthday that I have scrapped now that he is 11.  Nothing like being on the ball right?!  I have had these stickers since then.  They even came with a cute matching album that I think I will use!

The patterned paper is Sesame Street by Colorbok.  The cardstock is mostly Core'dinations.  I sanded it more on the number one because I love that the paper is pre-embossed with numbers.  You can't so much see that on the full page.  I cut the 1 out with my Cricut.

Thanks for looking!!!!

Robot Name Sign

My kids were telling me I only make stuff for other people and homes and not ours.  So I have been making stuff for our house and my kids ;).  This one was for my son.  I used the Printing Press font and robot scrapbook paper.

iPod bulletin board

This year I did my classroom in a rockstar theme.  I have mostly boys in my class so I wanted to do something gender neutral for a theme.  In the pocket chart the kids put the titles of the books they are currently reading.

This iPod is bigger then a 12x24 mat will cut so I cut it twice so I could take the bottom and top and piece them together.  Piecing the headphones was a bit trickier but it worked.  I used Paisley cartridge for iPod and I am pretty sure it is Printing 101 for the font.

If you want to see other pics from my room you can visit my neglected classroon blog.

Love burlap sign

I got frame on a mirror at Dollar Tree.  The mirror was already falling out of it when I bought it so it was easy to get that out ;). I am such a dork.  The entire time I am standing in line I am thinking- the cashier is going to say to me "You realize this is broken right?"  and how I couldn't wait to see her face when I say I like broken mirrors.  It was such a let down... she didn't say anything about the broken mirror to me!  Seriously, it took the wind right out of my sails! I then spray painted the frame.

I cut the word "LOVE" out with my Gypsy Wanderings cartridge then set the paper down on the burlap and used a foam brush to paint the burlap with some paint I had kicking around that somewhat matched the spray paint.  It matched MUCH better before I used it.  Then you just hot glue the back on and you are good to go!

Scrapbook layout and challenge to myself

Do you have a stack of photos to get to "someday" or a ton never put into prints?  I do for sure!  I have decided to start putting them together and to really get myself going.  I tend to spend wayyyyyyyy too much time organizing myself or complicating things.  So I am going quick, clean, and simple.

I also have a ton of STUFF that I keep telling myself I am saving for something special. I have no idea what that something special is!  So here is my challenge to myself....  I would love to have you join me!  If you want to take my challenge leave me a comment!

The challenge is 13 and 13 is 26

13 layouts and 13 products from my stash in 26 weeks.  So by August 9th I will have 13 layouts done.  Some of you may be thinking it is silly for it to take that long but it is far better than I have been doing!

Here is one I did today... Not part of the challenge.

I covered the journaling up because it included a lot of names ;)

I cut the paislies from the Paisley cricut cartridge.

Baby Chick card

I love easy. Too bad house cleaning, cooking, and work aren't this easy!  Imagine if I could just prima flower my entire house and call it clean!  Surely they can make some type of Prima flower that vacuums up dog hair the minute it comes off the dog!

This card is a little chick from Prima flowers.  I saw a bunch of this stuff on clearance.  I wish I had bought more of them when I saw them!  Isn't that the way though.  Either you don't buy enough or you go back a week later and you find out it is even cheaper then you paid for it.

Not sure why the photo looks like I bent the green paper there on the side.... It isn't looking like that in person.  I struggle ;)

Quick and Easy notebook set

For this I took a composition book and scrapbook paper.  I cut the C out with the cartridge that came on my Expression 2.  I filled the pencil case with crayons.

Easy and a personal gift for my cousin's son.

One of my favorite things about creating is giving.  He was so excited when he got this!  It really made my day.  It is funny how someone's reaction to a gift inspires you to make more but how a lack of reaction also makes me want to do better.

Card for Mom

Remember those wooden letters I got that I was having fun with?

Here they are again, hanging from the clothes line!  This was a quickie card made on glitter paper.  I enjoyed using the wooden embellishments in a different way.

Owl on Canvas

These owls are on 8x11 canvas.  I used scrapbook paper and then put modge podge on.  The brown one was a special order for a regular customer.  I love how changing the paper changes the use for it so much!  I used the Paisley cartridge!
