HELP! Tell me what to do... Which embossing "machine" do I get?
I am thinking I NEED some type of embossing machine thing do I need/want?
Can you tell me which one you have and what you do and don't like about it? I need lots of feedback because I am a researcher by nature. HELP! Please :)
I just got a cuttlebug and I LOVE it! From what I can tell you can use all the dies from different makers in this. I do have some folders for the cuttlebug as well as some sizzix dies also. hope this helps :)
I have a Cuttlebug also. I love the embossing folders althought I do wish they were larger. I don't have any nesting dies so can't offer any advice on that. I have used Fiskars plates and Sizzix embossing with this machine.
I have a Cuttlebug and really like it! I had it for awhile before I started using it and now I use it on almost every card I make!! I have several Cuttlebug folders and a set of Nestabilites that work great in it. One of my B plates is warping but still usable. I like the size of it for portability, too. HTH!!
Get a cuttlebug. I have the Sizzix Texture Boutique ( the one that looks like a cute purse). I love the Sizzix but it will only emboss an A2 size card, and it doesn't cut. The price on the Sizzix however is great- I got mine for $18 at Michaels with a 50% off coupon were as the Cuttlebug is $50-$80 depending on where you but it. I'm going to get a Cuttlebug someday soon (I'll pass the Sizzix on to the kids). Hope this helps!
I have the Cuttlebug but it was a big spend seeing I have a Cricut and am only using it to emboss ... I got my mom the texture boutique and although previous comments are correct you can only do up to a certain size she hasn't had an issue yet ... you can use the sizzix and cuttlebug folders in both as long as they are the correct size. Had I known the TB existed I would have gotten that instead ... plus it's MUCH lighter in weight as it doesn't need heavy rollers to allow the cuts! Hope this helps!
I have the big shots sizzix love it.It was spendy but they all tend to be. I have been able to use stuff from the cuttle bug on it. I got it cuz its pink and black and Im not a big fan of green but it dosent fold up like the cuttle bug and it is heavy but like I said its one of my new toys and I love it. so good luck finding the right one for you
I have the Cuttlebug and many folders from Cuttlebug and Sizzix that work in it. I love my Cuttlebug. It's great for adding extra texture to die cuts from my Cricut or to card backgrounds. I believe you can use a coupon on it to bring the cost down if you buy one at M's or J's. I use mine quite frequently. It's been a good investment for me. And the Cuttlebug is easy to use too.
I have the Original Sizzix, but needed something to cut and emboss bigger items, so I bought a Big Kick. I love it. I can use 2 embossing folders at the same time (A2 size), it can emboss with the bigger Sizzix ones. It cuts with dies, and you can use the Nestabilities with it too (you just need the rubber mats). I also had these old texture plates from Fiskars that are very large and it can emboss with them. I have the one that you have to turn the handle, but they also make an electric one too. Great versatile tool. Highly recommend. http://iwycd.blogspot.com/
I have the Sizzix Texture because I needed something cheap. The above the comments are correct about the A2 size. I will probably treat myself to a Cuttlebug eventually, but the texture works for now.
I have owned 3 machines, the QuicKutz Revolution, Cuttlebug, and Big Shot. The Big Shot is my recommendation (get the black, not the red…more capability with black). I know there is yet another newer machine: Spellbinders Grand Calibur. That may be the best, but I have never used it or seen it…yet :)
Ah, a fellow research :) I bought the Cuttlebug because you can use other plates in it. I bought a package of Fiskars plates for under $10 and then I get the Cuttlebug embossing folders when I find them on sale. I found my Cuttlebug on sale for $40!! I also love a good bargain :) I am happy with my Cuttlebug because I wouldn't need to emboss things must bigger than it can handle...at least for now.
I have the Red Big Kick, I love it. I use it with spellbinders nesting dies, cuttlebug and sizzix folders. It is very sturdy and the acrylic plates have not curled like the cuttlebug plates often do. What I don't like is that is very heavy and not easy to carry and occupies a lot of space for storage. The cuttlebug is small and portable and it folds for storage. The Big Kick is very much like the Big Shot. I bought mine at Micheal's with a 50% off coupon for $50.00 and since my favorite color is red it was perfect for me.
Thanks for checking out my blog! I have and recommend the Cuttlebug. I bought it on sale and use it often. Most embossing folders and dies from all sorts of companies work with it. It does not take up a lot of space, since it folds up when not in use, unlike the Big Shot that does not fold up. It is not too heavy either and I move it around a lot and also take it places. I bought it to emboss with but I also like that I can use Sizzix dies with it so that I can cut pop cans and heavy chip board. Ebay is a great place to find deals on these machines as well as Hobby Lobby or Michaels with their coupons. If I ever upgraded it would be to a BIG Shot Pro as the cutting space is 12 x 12 inches, but I'll always keep my Cuttlebug. --Amanda

ReplyDeleteI love my cuttlebug. You can use other dies with this machine. MHO
ReplyDeleteI have the Sizzix Texture Botique and love it. Its fit my needs very well. The A2 size restriction has not been a problem for me...
ReplyDeleteGood Luck- let us know what you get!
